We are CLOSED

After 17 years of tireless dedication, boundless creativity, and an unwavering passion for horticulture, we bid a heartfelt farewell to Claire Greenslade, our extraordinary Head Gardener at Hestercombe.

Claire has been a cornerstone of Hestercombe since 2007, bringing her unique blend of creativity and expertise to every corner of the estate. During her time here, Claire has witnessed and contributed to several significant changes to the estate, including the addition of four new buildings in the Georgian Landscape Garden, the restoration of the 17th Century Mill and Barn, and the development of Hestercombe House. Her forward-thinking leadership in sustainable horticulture has ensured that the gardens honour their heritage while adapting to meet the needs of the future.

Claire’s impact at Hestercombe extends far beyond the gardens. Whether bringing her signature authenticity to press interviews, becoming the star of the show on the Channel 5 TV documentary on Somerset, meeting Monty Don, sharing behind-the-scenes insights in her candid blogs, lighting up our social media channels, or parking cars in a glittery kimono, Claire’s presence here has been unmistakable.

A feminist, craftswoman, and champion of wellbeing, Claire’s vibrant personality has shaped Hestercombe beyond its landscape. Through her work in the gardens, her impact as a manager, and her undeniable presence within the team and wider community, Claire’s warmth, humour, and authenticity have left an indelible mark on all who’ve had the pleasure of working with her.

On behalf of the whole Hestercombe community, we thank Claire for her incredible contributions and wish her all the best in her future endeavours, confident that she will continue to inspire and achieve many remarkable things wherever she goes.
