This event is fully booked
Join us for a very special evening as we host our annual Bampfylde Lecture - held each year on the anniversary of the birth of former owner Coplestone Warre Bampfylde.
Philip White MBE, Hestercombe's founder and Chief Executive will be retiring in March, following a career of more than thirty years leading the restoration and preservation of this historically important and nationally significant house and gardens.
In celebration of Philip's contribution to Hestercombe this exclusive event will bring Philip together in conversation with author Tim Richardson. Tim is a garden critic and landscape historian, among the world's experts on the landscape garden movement, and has written numerous books on landscape design.
Tim and Philip will be exploring the deep and fascinating history of Hestercombe's gardens and their relevance to the wider landscape garden movement. Tim will be delving into Philip's journey, from re-discovering and restoring the historic estate at Hestercombe having first recognised the remains of the then derelict eighteenth century Landscape Garden in 1991 during his lunch breaks, when working in his role as a wildlife conservation officer based at Hestercombe House.
This is an event aimed at raising funds for Hestercombe's continuing restoration and preservation work.
