Bulb Planting in Rook Wood

Join our Gardens team in October half-term week to help them plant thousands of new bulbs in Rook Wood. This area, which is also the site of Hestercombe's last remaining WWII army hut, has undergone plenty of change in recent years, including the planting of thousands of snowdrops in 2010, and creation of new flower beds in early 2020. It will also host Hestercombe's Christmas Illuminations for the first time this year.

The Gardens team now aim to plant thousands of additional bulbs including several varieties of crocus, Chinodoxa, Scilla, wood anemone, and Ornithogalum to help bring the area to life in spring, adding swathes of white, purple and blue.

Pop up to see them between 11am and 1pm daily from Monday 25th to Friday 29th October. You'll be able to find out a bit more about their gardening techniques and even plant a couple of bulbs yourself.
