This month we’re celebrating our Landscape Garden Supervisor’s long and loyal service to Hestercombe. Ben Knight is officially Hestercombe’s longest serving gardener, having worked here for a decade, and he’s seen a lot of change in his time here. Fellow staff and volunteers treated him to a surprise party and cake – which is obviously the best gift for a hungry gardener! Ben started at Hestercombe through a six­month work placement while studying for his National Diploma in Countryside Management. Struggling to find a job in the sector he loved, he took a job with Parcel Force and then with South West Silvaculture, planting trees. Ben says the thing he loves most about his job here is that no two days are ever the same. He’s even been drafted in to dress up as Santa! We’re now looking forward to working with Ben for the next decade and beyond!
