Hestercombe is a unique collection of three gardens spanning three centuries of garden history and design. All have undergone acclaimed restoration works and today provide important examples of gardens in contrasting styles that continue to grow and develop. In particular, Hestercombe's Formal Garden is a fine example of the world renowned partnership between plants-women, Gertrude Jekyll and architect, Sir Edwin Lutyens.

In addition to these magnificent gardens, the Courtyard (comprising The Stables Restaurant, Coffee Shop, Lutyens Gallery, The Gardens Shop and Plant Centre) offers delicious, homemade refreshments, the Lutyens Gallery displays art in a variety of mediums by local artists - and our beautiful Gardens Shop is filled with interesting and unusual gifts, books and includes a well stocked Plant Centre. (FREE entry to the Courtyard and its facilities).

The Children's Playground, situated adjacent to our sunny comfortable picnic area offers a safe, fun space specifically designed for little ones - aged up to 7 - (FREE entry to the Picnic and Play Areas)

And don't forget to visit our Bat Roost with its hi tech viewing room!

Hestercombe welcomes your dogs - on a short lead.

Access for all:

The gardens are largely set in a valley so gradient can be steep in places. The Formal Gardens have steps and uneven surfaces. But, having said this, we have marked out a route on our Garden Guide Map for people with restricted mobility, wheelchairs and prams to follow.

We also have four wheelchairs available so please do not hesitate to telephone us to reserve one for your visit - 01823 413923.
